They find the typing experience excellent and recommend it at $179–249, though it isn't worth the $350 list price; they paid $229.

“I know big the brands aren't favorable in this sub but Asus did a really job with the AZOTH 96 HE.”

After breaking one standard switch on their Apex Pro TKL Gen 3, SteelSeries said no replacement switches are sold, leaving a $200 board with a dead key.

“I bought a Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 few months back. I broke a Red switch (my fault completely) not one of the magnetic ones.”

A Keychron K2 HE owner likes it enough for gaming that they want a work keyboard that feels very similar, and might just buy another K2 HE.

“I have the keychron k2 HE at home, for gaming. I’m looking for something that feels very similar, for work.”

A former full-size user finds the Wooting 80HE's 80% layout the perfect balance and doesn't miss anything from a 100% board.

“Coming from 100, for me 80 is the perfect balance. Using 80he from wooting.”

Testing a Keychron Q1 HE with an ISO-PT layout sold a user on the model, though they find it expensive and hard to get.

“I recently had the opportunity to test a **Keychron Q1 HE** equipped with a Portuguese layout (ISO-PT), and the experience sold me on the model.”

After a couple of years on a 60%, a coder and shooter player switched to the Keychron Q1 HE and finds its form factor better for nearly everything while still nearly as compact.

“I switched to the Keychron Q1 HE. The form factor was better for nearly everything.”

Their first mechanical keyboard was the DrunkDeer A75 Pro, which they loved at first, but it ranks last of their six boards for sound.

“Drunkdeer a75 pro (This is early HE keyboard days so of course it sounds bad)”

A used GMMK 3 Pro HE barebone: bright RGB, good gasket, knob and aluminium case, but many sockets don't work and the software is horrible.

“software is absolutely HORRIBLE, never have I seen one”

Enjoys the Falcata more over time: easy switching between mouse space and split-typing comfort, perfect rapid trigger and actuation as a gaming keyboard, and the left half alone works great for couch gaming. Many USB4/TB4 cables and extenders worked for the link.

“The more I use it the more I enjoy it.”

Chose the white 60HE v2 over a FUN60 with no regrets: amazing build quality and aluminum case, fast EU delivery and excellent software and customization.

“The build quality and the aluminium case are amazing!”

After a year and a half with the K70 Pro TKL, bought with their own money: a neutral, understated design and a nice soft magnetic wrist rest, but a creaking case with poor clip tolerances (the first unit arrived broken), a firmware bug that bricked it while saving a profile, and wrong factory-reset instructions.

“Hall effect with dementia.”

Likes the Falcata so far, but the long link cable is 10–15cm too short; only USB4 L-adapters and a straight extender worked to widen it.

“I like the ROG Falcata so far, but it's frustrating that ASUS didn't make the long cable 10-15cm longer.”

Tried the P1 HE but didn't like the feel or sound of its HE switches, settling on a Keychron Q1 Max.

“Lemokey P1 HE - Again, wasn't a fan of the feel or sound of the HE switches”

Very impressed so far with the tray-mounted 60HE v2: feels good and performs great in shooters, though they don't love the sound.

“I don’t love how it sounds but it feels good and performs great in games like The Finals/Bf6/Marathon”

The Q1 HE 8K was fast but disappointing in sound and feel stock; swapping in Gateron Jade Pro magnetic switches made it an excellent gaming board.

“the Gateron Jade Pro Magnetics turned this disappointment into an excellent gaming board with a nice clacky sound and great key press feel.”

Their first Keychron, the Q5 HE 8K surprised them with its build quality and weight, and browser configuration beats bloated software.

“First Keychron , was surprised by the build quality of this thing ! Nothing prepared me for how heavy it is either.”

After an Azoth, Aula F75 Pro and a bricked Monsgeek, they settled on the P1 HE: stock switches were too firm so they swapped them, but the software is intuitive and the HE gaming settings are great.

“However, software goes a long way, and the Keychron software is just more intuitive. I do love the HE settings for gaming”

Using the Falcata, the proprietary link cable (even the longer included one) wasn't long enough for a comfortable split until they found a USB4 Thunderbolt 4 extension that works.

“the link cable connecting the two halves is proprietary, and the longer of the two included cables still isn't long enough”

A Wooting 80HE owner says the zinc alloy case makes a huge difference and is worth the extra money.

“the metal case of this keyboard makes a huge difference in the experience. Absolutely worth the extra money.”

After a year with the Huntsman V3 Pro Mini for Fortnite: loud, clunky keys that turn mushy, games detecting it as a controller, unreliable half-presses and bad sound; not worth the money.

“I really had higher expectations for the keyboard switch and build quality wise for the price tag.”

Two months with the Falcata: a decent gaming board that's nice to type on tented, with wireless and half-board use, but Wooting is still the gold standard, the sound is average, and stock spacebars are hard to replace.

“I've had the board for about 2 months now.”

Upgrading from a Strix Flare II, the Falcata is the best gaming keyboard they've tried; the proprietary link cable and limited switch ecosystem are downsides, and they wouldn't pay the $420 MSRP (they paid $280).

“I love this keyboard. It’s easily the best gaming keyboard I’ve tried.”

Having owned a stock 60HE and a heavily modded 80HE, they find the stock 60HE v2 as good or better: great Lekker Tikken switches, superb aluminum build and 8K polling.

“The 60HE v2 is on the same level if not even better than my modded Wooting 80HE (insane for being stock).”
positivesolid buildgreat performance

With Lekker Tikken switches, this owner finds the Wooting 80HE feels like a normal linear board, and its analog magnetic switches make driving and flying in GTA 5 much easier, even one-handed.

“With the Wooting I can precisely control pitch, yaw and acceleration with the magnetic switches which has been a game changer”
positivegreat performance

Their first HE board, the P1 HE sounds far nicer and thockier than their old HyperX Alloy Origins.

“The keys are so much nicer sounding and thocky than I imagined.”

After three months of heavy use their white P1 HE shows keycap wear on almost every key despite daily cleaning.

“I am using white version after 3 months of heavy using I noticed wear and I am kinda disappointed by this.”

Using the Pulsar PCMK 2 HE TKL in their current setup, they rate its build quality above their Wooting 60HE's.

“I would say I prefer the build quality of anything else such a NuPhy 60HE, Pulsar PCMK.”

Finds the 80HE's cheap plastic case surprisingly good, better plastic than their NuPhy Halo65.

“I already have the holy80 ready to install, but I have to say this $10 plastic case isn't bad at all.”

The GMMK 3 Pro HE's stock Fox HE switches are horrible and scratchy; better switches improved it.

“I have both. I had the same reaction to the GMMK 3 Pro. Its the Fox HE switches, they are horrible and scratchy.”

Loves their open-box GMMK 3 HE at $70 but wouldn't pay much more.

“I got my GMMK3 HE open box for about $70. I love it but I don’t think I would’ve paid much more.”

Disappointed with the GMMK 3 Pro HE pre-built: much worse sound and feel than the Lemokey L5 HE.

“I am disappointed with the purchased Glorious Gaming GMMK 3 PRO HE Pre-Built”

Returned the GMMK 3 Pro HE within two hours: bad for the price and terrible software.

“When the GMMK 3 Pro HE was released I had a bunch of Best Buy credit so I bought the board and literally returned it within 2 hours. It was that bad for the price”

Their first sub-100% board, the P1 HE is great for gaming, feels and sounds great and has had no issues, though they replaced the stock keycaps.

“This board is so great for gaming.”

After nearly a month with the full-size Ducky One X, they find it built like a tank, with heavy factory foam they later removed; the keycaps were pressed on so tightly the switches come out with them.

“First off, this thing is built like a tank.”

Their first mechanical keyboard, the Wooting Two HE felt unpleasant and loose, turned out to be defective, and was returned.

“Oh I returned it Good luck in your search, and I hope you get a fully functional one. Mine ended up being defective”

A Dota 2 player compared the K2 HE Standard with the V1 Max and kept the K2: compact 75% layout with the F row in reach, shine-through keycaps and a solid, heavy build, but stiffer, spongier key presses and no volume knob.

“The K2 has my desired layout that allows me to use it without having to look at the board.”

After a month, they rate the P1 HE among the best all-round gaming keyboards of early 2025: premium build, great typing sound, latency near a Wooting 60HE, about 50-100 hours of wireless battery and good if imperfect software; switch choice is limited to Gateron dual-rail.

“Nothing ever holds you back while gaming; multi-key inputs register flawlessly”

For Star Citizen joystick emulation, the Wooting 80HE was a game changer over their Huntsman V3 Pro TKL: top-notch build, sound and feel, with up to 7 axes onboard.

“So the 80HE arrived today... game changer... everything I wanted from the Razer and then with top notch build quality, sound and feel!”

A competitive gamer coming from a membrane board loves their Huntsman V3 Pro TKL, especially the 0.1 mm actuation and rapid trigger.

“i love it cause i'm a competitive gamer, and both the 0.1mm actuation point and Rapid trigger are G R E A T”

Recommends their Keychron Q1 HE over a Wooting 80HE for mixed use: amazing build, software about as good, QMK/VIA, and it feels like typing on a cloud for coding.

“The Keychron has amazing build quality and software is about as good as Wooting.”

Bought the zinc 80HE for gaming but isn't a fan of the magnetic-switch feel or the board itself outside of games.

“Got it mostly for gaming, but outside of that not a huge fan of the feeling of the magnetic switches - the board itself too honestly.”

Returned the Huntsman V3 Pro Mini after three weeks: it felt cheap next to the ASUS Falchion HE, which has smoother switches and more dampening.

“I had the huntsman v3 mini for 3 weeks and returned it”

Moving from a 60% to the 80HE, they find the function row and arrows make schoolwork and everyday use far more enjoyable.

“Went from a 60 percent ducky one 2 to Wooting 80He, and 80 percent is a much nicer form factor because of the function row and arrows for sure.”

Switched from a Keychron K8 to the DrunkDeer G75 as their first rapid-trigger keyboard; loves it and, three months on, is very satisfied with no issues.

“I have no clue what that is but in general I'm very satisfied with the keyboard and didn't experience any issues”
